Though the Fryeburg Fair added a ninth day this year, the Saturday before the traditional Sunday opening, and the weather was near perfect, Total attendance was almost even with last year’s, at a little more than 171,000, The record attendance was set in 2004 at 199,000. Other agricultural fairs are also experiencing a slow decline in recent years, possibly due to changing demographics.
