Conway selectmen recently floated a plan to start charging people to park throughout North Conway Village either via pay kiosks or through a phone app, which similar resort communities in Maine and Massachusetts already use. According to Town Manager Tom Holmes, paid parking at three recreation sites that began two years ago was a “beta test” for this more ambitious program, for which resident stickers would apparently not apply. Holmes said the town needs to look at sources of revenue to take a bite out of rising property tax rates. A public hearing on the plan has been set for July 12 at a site and time to be determined.
