Fryeburg, Maine, Selectman Tom Klinepeter was recently bitten by a 75-pound pit bull that broke free from its leash and attacked him at the corner of Maple and Main. Selectman Kimberly Clarke said pit bulls are dangerous dogs that "should always be under control or restrained." The animal control officer said the dog had previously bitten someone and should be euthanized. Recent letter-writers, however, say pit bulls are getting a bad rap and are actually smart, good-natured and lovable breeds and that it is irresponsible owners who turn them into dangerous attack dogs.

This week's Tele-talk question: Do you think pit bulls are dangerous dogs or are unfairly portrayed as a "bad breed"?
