After three consecutive years of Conway School District’s food service program operating at $200,000 yearly losses and having budgeting for another $200,000 loss next year, the Conway School Board declined to renew 12 employees' contracts and authorize Superintendent Kevin Richard to enter into negotiations with a private food service provider. Steve Lyons, head of the state AFSCME union, has urged the board to hire a private manager and retain the local employees.
