To the editor:Thank you to everyone involved in making the Rozzie May Animal Alliance spay/neuter program such a success! Because of a group of compassionate veterinarians, giving of their time and talent, we have been able to offer clinics from Tamworth to Berlin. These veterinarians have been supported by a growing number of dedicated Rozzie May Animal Alliance volunteers: registered nurses, veterinarian assistants and technicians, paperwork people, and gourmet cooks our lunch breaks are experiences to be savoured! Our commitment to reduce the number of animals entering shelters brings together these volunteers from Ossipee in the south to Berlin in the north.Mr. and Mrs. Cat and all of their offspring and their offspring and their offspring can number in the hundreds of thousands in a few short years! An outdoor male cat will father hundreds of kittens a year. In response to this huge problem the Rozzie May Animal Alliance spay/neuter clinics have, so far, surgically altered 136 cats, 13 dogs and 1 rabbit in 5 clinics! The math speaks for itself! We invite anyone with an unaltered male cat to please call (603) 447-3477 for an appointment at the next Rozzie May Animal Alliance low-cost spay/neuter clinic, to be held on Thursday, July 17, in Chocorua. Dr. Scott Johnson of Fryeburg Veterinary Hospital will be altering cats and dogs. All female cat and dog appointments are full, but there is space for 10 male cats. All male cats 3 months and older are eligible for surgery. The cost for a cat neuter is $35.The Rozzie May Animal Alliance has made the financial commitment to low-cost spay/neuter clinics with the purchase of a van and transportable surgical equipment. We are working toward holding monthly clinics from Berlin to Wolfeboro. Thank you all for your support. Please spread the word, and together we will continue to impact animal welfare in New Hampshire!
