To the editor:I Remember When I remember the place for clams was known as "Daves." Ah, yes, those were the good old days. I remember when you wanted the best hamburger around. It was only at "Simpsons" it could be found. I remember pizza at the Old Colony Cafe. Find your girl and drive away. To Cathedral Ledge in the dark. Feed the coons while we sparked. I remember the strip lined with trees. Ah, yes, those days were mighty fine. I remember the hum of the Heel Mill, but now it's quiet ... and still. I remember lunch at Conway Cafe. My, that seems so far away. I remember behind the Yield House shooting my .38, Cheyenne his .44. I know we can't do that anymore! I remember bowling at Frenchie's and Howard Bean's too. Never thought of it any other way, did you? I remember when East Conway Road was dirt and over the railroad track. Doesn't that carry your memory a way way back? I remember "Pearly Thompson," baseball's pitching ace. Now that's all gone and softball takes its place. I remember EastConway's fire department was: "Grab your boots, put on any old cap." Ah, yes, I shudder recalling things like that. I remember when stop lights were very few. As I recall, there were only two. These things are gone and never will be again. But I can't help thinking and recalling "back when." Ah, yes, I remember things of yesteryear. These are the memories I hold so dear.
