To the editor:

Wildlife killing contests throughout New Hampshire and the United States are good times on Earth! Participants share in the camaraderie and fun of killing animals by trapping, shooting, hound hunting, etc. These events, typically sponsored by hunting outfitters, generally end with a celebration at a local hangout — often a bar or restaurant — where the animals’ bodies are counted and weighed and prizes are given out. Thousands of animals are killed annually, and usually most of the lifeless bodies are just dumped somewhere, participants having no further need for them after the prizes are awarded.
