Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds" is a phrase long associated with the American postal worker.
It seems like more mail gets lost than gets delivered, except for bills, and advertising.
Seems like Greeting cards and letters of correspondence are a thing of the past.
More options offer faster delivery and response.
Other than paying the salaries of federal postal workers, the post office is obsolete ?
If there were ever a Federal Agency that could benefit from automation & AI, it's the USPS.
Unfortunately, as with many other Federal Agencies, they are more concerned with protecting/maintaining positions above efficiency or service.
With E-Billing, E-Banking, and Email, we no longer need daily mail delivery. USPS could easily reduce costs by going to a 4-day or 3-day delivery schedule.
Most of the mail I get these days is junk mail anyway.
