To the editor:

Manufacturers and distributors earn profits from products that produce trash, and municipalities pay the disposal fees, which have been greatly increasing. Current House Bill 1636 aims to change that, with a “Container Deposit System.”

Bottle bills are a scam.

The beverage companies rake in millions.

Towns get nothing, residents get inconvenienced.

Its just an annoyance and serves no one but a tiny handful of less fortunates who eek out a few bucks collecting the bottles and returning them for the refund.

Do not support this bill.

I used to live in Massachusetts and I often wondered why the "bottle bill" was not rescinded once curbside recycling was implemented. What a terrible waste of time and money storing cans and having to take them back tot he supermarket or liquor store and feed them into a machine to get your money back. NH: Don't implement this!
