In response to letters by Jim Pietrangelo and Frank Balantic — say her name. Renee Nicole Good was killed by ICE Agent Jonathan Ross during a law enforcement encounter in Minneapolis, Minn., on Jan. 7. She was a 37-year-old mother of three and a U.S. citizen. Federal and local videos show Ross firing three shots into her vehicle as she attempted to drive away. That shooting has sparked protests and national debate over ICE use of force.
Today's letter very well summarizes the Left's misinformation campaign against the ICE officer who shot Ms. Good.
Do you think the agent, who was in front of the car and got struck by Ms. Good as she attempted to leave (defying repeated orders to get out of her car) was looking at the direction of the wheels while he was directly in her path? Only had he been out of harm's way could one argue that his shooting might not have been justified. The first bullet went through the front windshield so obviously he and his weapon were in the front of the car.
Second, one does not stop in the middle of the road, perpendicular to traffic, unless one was trying to either prevent other ICE vehicles from arriving or prevent ICE vehicles or personnel from leaving. Stopping in the middle of the street was an attempt at entrapment of law enforcement officers. The order for Ms. Good to exit the vehicle, and the attempt by an ICE officer to open her car door to remove her, was likely an attempt to place her under arrest. Her attempt to leave the scene under those circumstances was a criminal act.
I also have to comment on the media's attempt to hide Ms. Good's motivations. The family's attorney recently declined to say whether Ms. Good was participating in anti-ICE activities, and whether she participated in tracking ICE agents at other locations prior to this incident. That says to me that she was involved and the attorney does not want to perjure himself. But the media ignores this fact and continues to insist that there is no evidence of this pattern. Then why would someone who happens upon a protest stop their car in the middle of a street, perpendicular to traffic? Why would her wife get out to confront ICE officers? Why wouldn't they park elsewhere and walk if they wanted to "peacefully protest"?
The Left has been massing their protesters and filming every interaction to try to intimidate federal officers from enforcing the law. That didn't work in the 1960s when state governments tried to maintain segregation laws, and it won't work now when state governments try to shield illegal immigrants from lawful deportation.
