To the editor:

I read with interest the April 12 article by Tom Eastman about David Swirk’s dream of resurrecting rail freight service over the former Mountain Division tracks. Thinking about the future, his vision makes a lot of sense. One thing that railroads do exceptionally well is haul bulk materials. Also, the world around us is changing, and the line could eventually be used to bring tourists into the region — without preventing recreational use of the corridor.

There should be a law declaring all rail trails must be rail with trail. That offers the maximum potential use for these corridors
