To the editor:

It has been said that the letter of the law kills but the spirit of the law brings life. The mural hanging above the door leading into Leavitt’s Country Bakery is a joyful work of art created by artists who captured the essence of a morning doughnut. As a sign, it is not well placed to attract customers. I submit that as an advertisement sign it is lacking, but as an uplifting mural it is marvelous.
