To the editor:

I was glad to learn that hundreds of beagles that were doomed to be used for painful medical research were released because they were not needed at this time. But the government, who ordered these dogs to be bred with taxpayer money, lacks any sense of moral responsibility to pay for the spaying, neutering, vaccinations or boarding to rehome these dogs. Shelters are already overcrowded with homeless pets. Many dogs will have to be euthanized to make room for these additional dogs.

Lyn, I've owned more than a few beagles in my lifetime. They do bite people. I had to get rid of one for biting my kids friend. Don't know where you get your dogs from.
