“Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it…'' is a famous quote by George Santayana, a 20th Century Spanish-American philosopher and novelist. It is often repeated in these uncertain times.

After a recent, short visit to Plzeň in the Czech Republic, my daughter, Laura Cummings, and I stumbled upon some history that we feel would actually be worth repeating.
