Let me start by saying that I have always been proud to be an American and all we stand for: freedom, democracy and justice for all. I was also raised to have the deepest respect and gratitude for all of our veterans who fought and died for these rights so many of us take for granted. I also have a great respect for our police and firefighters who keep us safe here at home, like the police officers who lost their lives protecting our government on Jan. 6 from Donald Trump’s MAGA followers.
Unsolicited advice from Democrats that personal character is what voters should be using to decide the next President is not helpful.
We can agree that Trump has at times an unpleasant and polarizing personality. And Kamala has her inappropriate laugh. Maybe they aren't comparable, but I'm not sure which is more annoying.
But lucky for Trump, most people vote on policy and achievement. And unlike Biden who campaigned as a Moderate but governed as a far Left Progressive, we know what those policies and achievements will bring the country. Here is a short summary:
Wars around the world. Not fully supporting our ally, Israel, despite the unprovoked attack by Hamas, aided by Iran whom the Biden administration indirectly funded.
Russia would never have attacked Ukraine except for Biden's weakness and his inept withdrawal from Afghanistan.
High inflation caused by reckless spending and excessive government debt. Both parties pursued this to a degree, but most people know the Republicans are the only ones who at least have a chance to reduce spending. Democrats are beholden to the welfare class.
High crime: From Far Left DAs who do not prosecute crime to the wave of illegal immigration which has overrun our cities, to those like Walz who refused to bring law and order to their own cities and let them burn.
The unmitigated disaster at the Southern border. Harris claimed it was secure. She also claimed and continues to claim to this day that Biden is mentally fit. I understand politicians all lie, but this is the whopper of the century when she literally replaced him on the ticket despite getting zero primary votes because of his mental decline.
The writer seriously mischaracterized the events of January 6. Trump clearly told his supporters to peacefully protest at the Capital and Nancy Pelosi clearly refused additional security for what was to be a large event. There was no armed attack and no police officers died from gun violence. Trump should have been more active in calming down the crowd.
So it was a stain on Trump's presidency, but no less one than Biden's lie about his son's laptop, the suppression of free speech by social media through government pressure, the Russia collusion hoax spearheaded by Hillary Clinton, or the impeachment distraction over a phone call.
But sure, if you don't personally like Donald Trump and the chaos that his administration causes, then vote against your self-interest and the country's self-interest.
