To the editor:

Ethan Freeman, David Donovan and Mark Clermont. These three men were killed by police officers in the last three months of 2020 — all in northern New Hampshire, a region containing only 17.3 percent of the state’s population.

Chelsea, you are just wrong. No mental health professional will respond to someone who is acting violently. Fire/Rescue personnel will wait until police have the situation under control. The police, when a person is acting violently, are the only ones to handle such situations. What we do need is better less-lethal devices.
