To the editor:I have to admit that I was totally befuddled by Susan Meeker-Lowry's comments regarding censorship in academia against "tree huggers" and liberals! where has Ms. Lowry been for the last 30 years? I also took offense to her crude remark over "if we're not flag-waving patriots or cross-wearing Christians, we must be the enemy." I find it hard to even respond to that one! Everyone should know by now (if they can see, read, and hear) that our colleges and universities have been taken over by the left. Poll after poll has shown that between 92 and 96 percent of professors and administrative staff identify themselves as liberal Democrats. There have been numerous lawsuits filed by cross-wearing Christians and conservative "patriots" because of the flagrant bias and prejudice that's been heaped at them. So not to worry, Ms. Lowry, political correctness continues to remain supreme, in a most rabid form, in our institutions of "higher learning"only the real victims are your cross-wearing Christians and your flag-waving patriots. If any of you have kids in college, just ask them, unless its already too late (liberal McCarthyism works, given enough time). My two were shocked to learn that it was actually America that started the war with Japan (revisionist history, taught by a flag-waving Republican, of course!). Also the list of conservative lecturers and speakers who have been banned, shouted down, assaulted and threatened is numerous, e.g., David Horowitz, Justice Clarence Thomas, Justice A. Scalia, Ann Coulter, Alan Keyes, Michelle Malkin (syndicated columnist), and a host of other conservatives. Watching Ms. Malkin on CSPAN recently, trying to present her lecture at UC Berkeley, California, was a special treat! They had to hire security, lock the doors, and the atmosphere was so hostile, I couldn't help but admire this woman's courage. Throughout her lecture and question-and-answer periods, you could hear the shouting of profanities and the constant pounding on the door. The book signing which usually follows these events was cancelledfor security reasons! All this from the liberal left, whose mantra is tolerance, acceptance, diversity, inclusion andnonjudgmentalism! And as for the media favoring Bush (Dan Rather, Jennings, Newsweek, et al), that was the best laugh of all! I would like to thank the Sun for publishing my letters (even when I insulted them). However, I would like to see another conservative columnist in addition to Tom McLaughlin (he must feel like a stranger in a strangeland). One more thing (while I'm on a roll): what is it with our cable, Valley Vision? Hours of impeccable boredom. (Does anyone really watch these tedious town board meetings that are shown repeatedly? Or Point of View, with three obvious Democrats "interviewing" Mr. Hounsell with no debate, just everyone engaged in a Kerry lovefest.) Can't we have some balance? It would be great to have some lively programing.
