To the editor:Why was a petition required to address an issue for simply studying a situation confronting an SAU 13 community? The answer begins with the Tamworth School Boards refusal to second a motion for creating an unbiased, broad-based planning committee to study and evaluate the possibility of consolidation of SAU 9 and 13. Therefore, no further public school board discussion ensued and the motion died.Article VII is calling for a planning committee consisting of two school board members and five at-large members appointed by the school board moderator. This groups findings and recommendations will be reported at a public hearing no later than Oct. 1, 2009. This report is not pursuant to any RSA and would be a non-binding document for the towns study and future direction.I strongly support this article and recommend its passage.
