The first hours of the 2019 legislative session did not pass without Conway Rep. Tom Buco demonstrating once again the independent political thinking that earns him such wide regard. His fellow Democrats, jubilant in victory, wasted no time reimposing a ban on concealed weapons in the House chamber, and Tom was one of only four members of his party who refused to kowtow. The other Carroll County Democrats — including Jerry Knirk, of course — toed the party line as conspiratorially as we knew they would, despite their phony declarations of nonpartisanship.
This introductory gun ban, along with the more universal one they would all certainly love to enact, is merely a metaphor for the overall radical agenda of “progressives” nationwide. It echoes with slightly louder irony here in New Hampshire, which clings tenuously to a belabored tradition of personal freedom, but that image flourishes more outside the state than within its borders.
