CONWAY — Traffic will be able to flow fairly normally during construction of the Main Street Project, the town engineer told selectmen Tuesday, though officials are considering speed humps on Pollard Street to deter cut-through traffic.
The work will involve creating right-turn lanes at the Four Corners and widening Route 16 heading north near the Irving gas station toward the bridge. Drivers heading to Fryeburg, Maine, currently go straight through the intersection. After the project is completed, those drivers will instead take a curved lane in front of the Conway Public Library park. Work will continue through November before pausing for the winter, then resume in April 2027, with projected completion in October of that year.
