The third time was certainly the charm for Democrat Bobbi Boudman who last week won her state house bid in Carroll County's hard red District 7. The special election saw the seat, mercifully vacated by Glenn Cordelli, hotly contested with Republicans outspending Democrats three-fold on a sub-optimal candidate. Boudman's win is a hopeful sign that things might be starting to change course in the State House. And if ever there were an institution gone wildly off course it's the New Hampshire's General Court.

There are Democratic rumblings that Boudman's victory can be attributed in part to voter dissatisfaction with House Majority Leader Jason Osborne. This seems beyond plausible, as Osborne's Free State Project has attracted more press of late, and none of it positive. While the players on the right are publicly reluctant to assign such a reason, in private they are surely less certain.
