Regime change No. 1:  In 1953, our CIA helped overthrow a democratically elected government in Iran because that government wasn’t sufficiently anti-Communist. That regime change placed the brutal dictatorship of the Shah in power until a religiously led revolution in 1979 put the first Ayatollah in charge. Because the Iranian people understandably blamed the U.S. for much of their suffering under the Shah, we were viewed as the Great Satan. Our embassy was overrun and the staff was taken hostage.

President Carter could not free them and lost the presidential election to Ronald Reagan. They were freed under Reagan, who secretly sold weapons to the Ayatollah to fund a secret war in Nicaragua — but I digress.

George, I agree with your timeline of events and America's track record when it comes to flexing its muscle and influence on other countries. Ever since the end of WWII, we have been trying our best to balance our self-interests while helping the Allies and developing/recovering nations. Our position rapidly changed to that of a superpower and major player on the world stage and in geopolitics.

Many nations looked to us for help and stability. Rightly or wrongly, we became the face of democracy, stability, and fiscal largess.

Meanwhile, the Soviet Union and China were developing their own set of values and self-determination, which was in direct opposition to the US and our old and new Allies.

Fast forward 60 years, where hindsight and criticism can be a relatively easy game to play. But consider this: While critics sit comfortably in their overstuffed easy chairs, provided by American progress and security, the Chinese have been quietly and diligently amassing huge amounts of real estate, natural resources, and influence around the globe and within our hemisphere. They have been forming alliances and exerting their own fiscal might in places like South America, Central America, the Caribbean, and yes, even Canada. Then there is Africa, the Southeast, and the Arctic Circle.

Russia has its hands full with Ukraine, but they still have direct influence over Europe as a major supplier of energy (oil).

If we are to be critical about our attempts to secure our own nation's future on the global chessboard, let’s at least be cognisant of what the other major players are up to.

It could be that Trump has been the one President who is doing what he said he would do and put our interests front and center, regardless of what the globalists and apologists think.

Let’s at least give him the time for the moves he is making to play out.

It’s far too easy and disingenuous to think you know what the results will be or have the insight to be the judge.

To put it plainly, I support whatever effort is applied to advance our country’s economic and military influence on the global stage.

The last 40+ years of experimentation into Globalism (Socialism in disguise) have proven to be the most detrimental foreign policy strategy when it comes to strengthening our own self-interests.

Geo-Political moves are being made, and we need to maintain our supremacy.
