Last week, the Sun ran a front-page news story about a Vermont group that was suing to stop the White Mountain National Forest from doing some logging. If you bothered to read the article to the end (a rather painful process), you discovered something shocking in the italicized description of the author. The “news” article was written by the director of the organization doing the suing.

At the risk of fawning over my employer, we are very lucky to have the Sun. Few communities in America, even some good-sized cities, do not have the level of local news available to us. It also serves as an open forum for the community’s political views. Plenty of ugly stuff comes out of that, but knowing what our neighbors are thinking is a good thing.
