My right eye has a hunk of its vision field missing. My left eye is good. When I look at stuff there’s no hole in the picture. My brain uses all the data from both eyes and assembles it into a complete view. That’s what brains do — they organize all the information we’re bombarded with into a logical structure. 

But sometimes the nonsensical nature of the data is just too much. Our brains fail. They can’t make sense of it. It only takes an occasional peek at the news to uncover a trove of utterly inscrutable human behavior.
