Chuck Douglas: Hiding the Ball

I am writing to formally raise a concern regarding the recent complaint wrongly filed by Conway Township official. I belief that the township lacked jurisdiction, as both individuals were acting outside their official township roles. One is a township employee, the other an elected official for the township. Let it be known. The complaint was not made at the workplace, Neither individuals were engaged in official township business, both individuals were volunteering preparing for a non-profit fundraising event. It is my understanding “words” were said. I too was at this workshop { I heard nothing- saw nothing- nor was I told anything. I was however questioned by the investigative attorney who asked me not to share my conversation with anyone.

Although the investigation did not result in any criminal findings, the financial cost to the township was substantial. It has also resulted in the resignation of two very fine public officials. While new officers have been selected and will do a good job, the ongoing impact is a significant loss of stability and trust within the township. If she had a complaint she should have been advised by township officials to file it in a proper venue.

I am very aware of who filed this complaint, and I believe it was a spiteful act that undermines the well-being of an entire community. Hopefully in the future a lesson is learned and a more responsive system of governance will prevail.
