Carroll County had a great opportunity to invest in a project that would have benefited taxpayers and the environment, thanks to Wharton Sinkler and a group of local volunteers. This proposal required a careful study of the financial benefits of installing a solar array at the county farm. The proposal never received a serious financial review. The commissioners lost an opportunity to put the taxpayers’ money to work.

Electricity is an expense we will incur every year. The question isn’t whether Carroll County will spend money on electricity. The question is whether we continue buying all of it from the grid at future prices we cannot control or produce a significant portion ourselves.
