To the Editor:

If money were no object, or conversely if money were to be the only object, what other factors should today's parents' carefully consider before enrolling their child in any public or private school system in America? Since the controversy surrounding the Common Core Testing formats is still brewing, it might be helpful to note that in many states that have mandated these tests, private schools are not being forced to use them, nor are they usually dependent on return of tax dollars from their state or the Federal government for funding. Checking out the decision of any school (public or private) regarding Common Core Testing should be a first step. If your children seem to be adversely affected by these tests to the point that it is disrupting family life or obviously damaging a child's emotional well being, opting out of the tests or finding a school that has not been required to administer them might be the best route (even if it means relocating your family to a state that has not adopted them as yet.) Be forewarned that until the debate and furor about the currently available Common Core tests moving the whole family before your chosen alternative state has weighed in on mandating them could be a huge mistake. It should be obvious that finding a private school within a reasonable traveling distance from your current residence ( preferably within your own state) should affect your family life much less and probably more positively at this time.
