The organizer of Saturday's Valley Pride Day says the event enjoyed record-breaking attendance and volunteers took tons of garbage off local roads.

"We had well over 1,000 volunteers and probably the best turn out in 18 years — thank you, Mother Nature, for a beautiful, picture-perfect day!" said organizer Donna Woodward of Fryeburg, Maine, in an email to the Sun on Tuesday.
