JACKSON — According to consultant Jim Perkins’ research into the history of the 1879-built structure, Jackson’s early town meetings were held in private homes and later a schoolhouse.

Construction of a dedicated town house was considered and rejected at the town meeting of 1872 but approved in 1879.
