CONWAY — The first measurable snowflakes of the season fell along with a wintry mix Monday into Tuesday, making driving a challenge for some, causing a two-hour delay to the start of school in MSAD 72, marking the closing of two popular shortcuts for the winter, and bringing a smile to the faces of skiers and snowboarders.

Local National Weather Service Observer Ed Bergeron said 2.8 inches of snow fell on North Conway through 1 p.m. Tuesday.
