CONCORD — An investigation has begun into ventilation systems at long-term care facilities that have suffered outbreaks of COVID-19, officials said at Gov. Chris Sununu’s news conference Tuesday.

Lori Shibinette, the state director of the Department of Health and Human Services, said as concerns for possible spread of COVID-19 through the air increase, the state hopes to look at whether there are similarities in the HVAC systems at the long-term care facilities which have had more than three cases of the coronavirus constituting an “outbreak.”

Cleaning the air inside has been my HVAC related investigations for the past 30 years. I always check the console units in my hotel room and will find that they have either pulled the filter or the filter is blocked with clutter. The very small number of hotels that actually change their filters are always complimented by me. When I do a long term rental I immediately change the filter and date it with marker. I found that my 2019 filter change had not been touched one year later-I selected another long term rental for 2021. Use UV generators and activated charcoal filters, run your air constantly and condition the air. Those dont buy you 100% safety but they are the easy first steps.
