CONWAY — When Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester) announced last October she wasn't seeking re-election to represent New Hampshire's 1st Congressional District, Portsmouth Democrat Lincoln Soldati was among the first to announce a run for her seat.

It was an easy decision to make, said Soldati, 69, who had a long and distinguished career as Strafford County Attorney, and then more years as a defense lawyer.
