THOMPSON AND MESERVE’S PURCHASE —A stranded skier was rescued on Mount Washington Wednesday night after venturing into an area where he could not go farther for fear of falling in the icy conditions.

Fish and Game conservation officers and a volunteer from Androscoggin Valley Search & Rescue responded to a call from a distressed skier at about 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The skier, 20-year-old Sean Bagdon of Colchester, Vt., was trapped on an icy slope in Burt Ravine, located on the western side of Mount Washington not far from the Cog Railway.
