CONWAY — Cranmore Mountain Resort started out its 80th season in a big way Monday — with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the completion of the 18-unit initial phase of Kearsarge Brook Condominiums at Cranmore.

In keeping with Cranmore’s ski heritage, dignitaries passed under an arch of ski poles on their way to the ribbon-cutting, just as Austrian skimeister Hannes Schneider did when he and his family arrived in 1939 from Nazi-held custody.
