WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) said on Twitter that she was safe as news media video showed chaos at the U.S. Capitol as a mob pushed past police, breached security and got inside the building Wednesday afternoon.

The Washington Post reported that one person was shot inside the U.S. Capitol, the Senate stopped its proceedings and the D.C. mayor imposed a citywide curfew from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
