Conway Town Planner Ryan O'Connor spoke about proposed zoning changes that would if approved by voters create a new commercial core district for hotels and large big box stores aside from a highway commercial zone district for zoning during a work session of the Conway Planning Board June 27. CONWAY — At the board’s June 27 work session, members discussed increasing green space and buffer requirements and also heard a presentation by Conway Town Planner Ryan O’Connor to create a new highway corridor commercial zone apart from the existing highway commercial district.

The idea, he said, is to restrict new large-scale commercial projects, including big box stores and large hotels, to a core commercial core at the lower end of the North Conway Strip, from Market Basket down to just north of Burger King.
