CONWAY — September is National Service Dog Month, and a veteran from Ossipee was recently matched with Canine Companions service dog Elroy, a 2-year-old yellow Lab-golden retriever cross, according to John Bentzinger,​ public relations and marketing coordinator Canine Companions., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is based in Santa Rosa, Calif.

Elroy, 2, was specially bred and trained by Canine Companions to help retired Vietnam veteran Wayne Marshall, 78, of Ossipee with his service-related disabilities, said Bentzinger​.
