OSSIPEE — An SUV collided with a Governor Wentworth Regional School District Bus with students on it on Friday, sending three people in the SUV to the hospital.

No one on the school bus was injured.

Police Chief Joe Duchesne said the SUV was an older model Yukon that was coming down Chapel Road when it, "for some reason lost control and struck the school bus."

The accident happened around 8:25 a.m, and Chapel Road, which connects Ossipee Mountain Road in the south to Pine Hill Road in the north, was closed until 10:27 a.m.

There was "moderate" damage to the Yukon and no damage to the school bus, but Duchesne said another school bus was sent to pick up the students, and state police inspected the bus.

Center Ossipee Fire Chief Dana Cullen Jr. said there were a dozen elementary age children on the bus.

There were two children and one adult in the other vehicle, and Cullen said all three were taken to Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Duchesne said he doesn't believe there will be any charges but the accident is still being investigated. He had no information about the driver of the Yukon.

Ossipee and State police responded along with Center Ossipee Fire Department.
