OSSIPEE — An island on Leavitt Bay in Ossipee Lake has been purchased by the town’s board of selectmen for $250,000 with funds donated from a trust.

The owners of the private island had proposed to put a giant dock on it, which had riled other lake lovers.

Public access means the island will get destroyed, along with the loons…. It was better off in private hands…
