BARTLETT — The Upper Saco Valley Land Trust and Granite Backcountry Alliance this week announced a partnership to purchase 48 acres of land on East Branch Road that will provide guaranteed, ongoing public access to the White Mountain National Forest on the northwest side of Bartlett Mountain in Bartlett.

On April 6, GBA announced that the National Forest had approved a 410-acre zone on Bartlett Mountain for backcountry skiing. Fifteen percent of the zone, or 60 acres, may be actively managed — removing understory vegetation and limbing low branches — for glade skiing.
