CONWAY — For the first time after a five-year winning streak, the Kennett High School girls alpine skiing team didn't hoist the first place trophy after the NHIAA Division II Girls Alpine State Meet, this year held at Cranmore Mountain on Tuesday.
Despite falling short of the top spot, the girls team still skied to a close third place, with junior Myra Johnston taking first place for both the GS and slalom races. The boys team likewise found some success on the slopes, securing second place in their state meet at Crotched Mountain in Bennington on Monday. Five of the 12 Eagles who participated in the meets qualified for spots in the upcoming Meet of Champions.Â
