JACKSON — Approximately 40 Jackson residents packed the meeting room at Jackson Town Office on Tuesday for an initial hearing on a proposed special events permit for large events, with Erik Mogensen, owner of Black Mountain; Mark Lahood, co-owner of three Jackson inns; and Ellen Chandler and Ken Kimball of the Jackson Ski Touring Foundation among the those speaking out against the proposal.
The proposed 60-day application period was criticized for being too restrictive. The noise ordinance was also reviewed, with suggestions to clarify language and consider extending the cut-off time for amplified music from 10:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. The importance of balancing community needs with business operations was emphasized, with a call for further refinement of the ordinances.
