FRYEBURG — The Fryeburg Academy golf team successfully defended its Western Maine Conference Championship at Poland Spring Resort on Oct. 7, topping Freeport, Yarmouth and Gray-New Gloucester.
“All season Freeport was a slight favorite and had beaten us twice in the season, and we split with Yarmouth on the year,” Coach Chris Dutton said. “It figured to be a tight three-team race. We were ready for action and excited to defend the championship, and things got off to a good start.”
