CONWAY — A Conway man who in 2024 said he shot another man in self-defense after he said the other man roughed up his sister, pleaded guilty to reckless conduct and no contest to simple assault in Carroll County Superior Court and was given a suspended jail sentence.

Although the judge thought the negotiated plea deal was lenient, he approved it because the prosecution would have a heavy burden to disprove a self-defense claim at trial.
