With Labor Day and the summer season in the rearview mirror and daylight waning, we’re rapidly approaching the dark season. Some of us will go to work in the dark and return home the same way. Fortunately, for drivers of newer vehicles and the wonders of cheap LEDs, the road is illuminated like never before. Unfortunately, for drivers meeting LED lights head-on, those miracle beams are a misery.
A recent AAA survey found that 92 percent of average drivers stated glare from oncoming headlights is a top concern. Sixty percent say that oncoming headlight glare is an actual problem and 36 percent point to headlight glare in their rearview mirrors as problematic. A full 73 percent of those surveyed believe it has become worse in the past 10 years, which lines up with the proliferation of LED vehicle lighting.
