TAMWORTH — The Chocorua Lake Conservancy's long-planned shoreline restoration project began earlier this week, with contractors getting to work to stabilize 1,000 feet of the lake's eastern shoreline.
Two public lake access areas along Route 16 — the Island and the Tamworth Residents Beach — are closed to visitors as work continues into next week, said the Conservancy's stewardship director, Debra Marnich, who said that sections of these areas will likely be closed through the fall and possibly into other seasons. The purpose for the closure is so newly established shoreline and planted greenery have time to get established undisturbed.
