CONWAY — An Albany man with a lengthy criminal history faces a slew of charges after an incident Tuesday where he was allegedly caught with methamphetamine and attempted to take an officer's gun in his attempt to escape capture.

According to a press release from Conway Police Lt. Chris Mattei, Alex Spaulding, 27, of Albany faces felony charges of receiving stolen property, theft, attempted taking a gun from a law enforcement officer, possession of controlled drugs, falsifying physical evidence and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and simple assault on a police officer.
