BRETTON WOODS — Seventy-five summers ago, as World War II raged overseas, representatives from 44 nations gathered at the grand hotel now known as the Omni Mount Washington Resort to set an economic outline for the world to follow after the war ended.

Mount Washington and the northern Presidential Range served as the scenic backdrop for the United Nations Monetary and Financial Conference, which took place July 1-23, 1944, and was attended by 700 delegates.
