Last August, Emily Smith-Mossman organized a back-to-school charity event for kids who were in need of clothing, shoes, accessories and school supplies and she was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support by her community.

"This community gets it," Smith-Mossman said. "Everyone wants to do something to pitch in. All I'm trying to do is get the word out that this is for kids or families who need it and I want it to be a fun night for them. Donations have been coming in every day. It's amazing how generous our community is. I had 35 bags of clothing (as of Friday), and now my car is full again (as of Tuesday)."
