CONWAY — The Conway Village Fire District's annual meeting on Tuesday was marked by a near-unanimous rejection of Article 18, which was a hedged bet against the taking over of village sidewalks at Wednesday night's deliberative session, and a resounding victory at the polls by Steve Bamsey, who defeated Tom Buco in the race for commissioner.

Buco, a former district commissioner, found competition in Bamsey for longtime commissioner Joe Quirk's seat. Quirk opted not to run for re-election. Bamsey won 51-14. A third candidate, Tad Furtado received two votes. However, Furtado had dropped out and threw his support behind Bamsey.
